Mido Brand Story

Timeless automatic watches since 1918
The name Mido comes from the Spanish «Yo Mido», meaning «I measure».  This Hispanic name was chosen because Latin America was the brand’s number one market when it was born in 1918 in Switzerland under the leadership of Georges Schaeren, who founded the Mido G. Schaeren & Co. watch company.
From the outset, production of Mido watches, whether for men or women, has been based on functional and durable automatic timepieces with original yet timeless designs – a leitmotif that still applies to the brand, which sets out to produce enduring watches.

Inspired by architecture
The commitment to producing beautifully made watches that are far removed from trends and fashion (both of which are transitory by definition) naturally gave rise to one of Mido’s major sources of inspiration: architecture.
The use of high-quality materials, impeccable design, harmonious and timeless style, and innovation are just some of the values that the Swiss watchmaker shares with this prestigious discipline, and which permanently guide the creation of its collections.
To create watches with timeless yet contemporary designs has been the brand’s credo since it was founded in 1918. So while Mido watches distinguish themselves from fashion in their quest for timelessness, they nevertheless boast a strong personality all of their own. This identity is notably reflected in the great attention paid by the brand to each of its creations. At Mido, every detail counts, from meticulous case design and quality finishes to optimised functionality and wearer comfort.
The most recent collections – just like the entire brand catalogue – share three common denominators that are all excellent reasons to choose a Mido: original watches designed to stand the test of time, precise and powerful movements, and exceptional value for money.

For nearly a century, Mido has been a global benchmark in Swiss made mechanical watches. The brand is part of the Swatch Group, the world leader in watchmaking.
