SHREK THE MUSICAL Casts Local Youngsters for Upcoming Production

Three local new stars to play young Shrek in the international Broadway production for its Macao season

(Macao, July 07, 2016) – The Venetian® Macao held auditions at Sands Theatre, Sands Macao on July 2 to find talented young stars to join the Broadway hit show SHREK THE MUSICAL when it comes to The Venetian Theatre at The Venetian  Macao from July 22 to Aug. 7, 2016. Children aged between 7 and 10 years turned up for the auditions. Producers and management were overwhelmed by the breadth of talent on show on the day and in the end three lucky young stars were finally chosen to play the role of young Shrek in the show.

Each of the children were asked to perform acting and dance tasks to display their talent and the three youngsters that stood out were Leonie Holly Quinn, Devara Gabriel Wangke and Wong Pok Wang. The three of them will now get the chance to perform in SHREK THE MUSICAL along seasoned Broadway actors during its upcoming season in Macao.

This was the first time ever in Macao that an international theatrical production held auditions for  new talent, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for young theatre lovers to be part of a Broadway show. “We are thrilled for this opportunity to be able to tap into the local talent pool here in Macao and give some young children the opportunity to perform on stage with seasoned professionals from Broadway in New York,” said Tomos Griffiths, Executive Creative Director from Entertainment. “Sands China is committed to bringing the world’s best musical theatre entertainment to Macao and supporting local talent in the community to see what they can do and be a part of this ground breaking event in Macao.”

SHREK THE MUSICAL, produced by Broadway Entertainment Group FZ LLC and NETworks Presentations, LLC., is supported by The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government. The English-language production will be playing at The Venetian Theatre at The Venetian Macao for 21 performances from July 22 to Aug. 7, 2016 and follows other Broadway musicals that Sands China Ltd. has brought to Macao. Based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks Animation film that started it all, this live adaptation brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to the stage.
